Apple Boosts Retail Expansion in India Despite US Trade Pressures
Apple expands retail in India, targeting tech and student hubs while balancing trade challenges.

The company’s approach highlights its intent to integrate deeper into India’s premium-tech ecosystem. By prioritizing financial and political capitals first, and now turning to technology and student hubs, Apple signals its long-term commitment to the Indian market.

Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail, emphasized the distinct importance of each location. She noted that Bengaluru, as India’s technology capital, reflects a strong passion for innovation, while Pune’s student and creative community makes it a hub for fresh ideas powered by Apple’s ecosystem.

This retail push also comes at a sensitive time, with New Delhi and Washington experiencing strained trade relations. Apple’s expansion can thus be seen as both a business move and a strategic effort to strengthen ties with one of the world’s fastest-growing consumer markets.
