5-star Kuldeep Yadav hands match ball to 100 Test veteran R Ashwin in Dharamsala
Kuldeep Yadav paid the ultimate tribute to R Ashwin as he wanted the veteran pacer to have the match ball despite picking up a five-wicket haul on day one of the Dharamsala Test.
Heartwarming Gesture: Kuldeep Yadav |
Ashwin, who was playing his 100th Test on Thursday, was given the ball by Kuldeep as he wanted the veteran to lead India off the field after bundling out England for 218 runs on Day One of the fifth Test.
However, Ashwin was adamant that Kuldeep was the one leading India off the field after running through the English batting order.
England opted to bat first after winning the toss and had a solid start thanks to Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley. However, Kuldeep picked up two wickets to dismiss Duckett and Ollie Pope before the lunch break.
Kuldeep would then start an almighty collapse for the visitors as they went from 100 for two to 175 for six before the tea break. Kuldeep bowled a beauty to dismiss Crawley as the spin of the ball completely outfoxed the opener.
Next, he would dismiss Jonny Bairstow to reach the landmark of 50 Test wickets before continuing to have the number of Ben Stokes. This would help Kuldeep get to his fourth five-wicket haul.
Then it was the Ashwin show in Dharamsala as he dismissed Tom Hartley and Mark Wood in quick succession to put India well and truly in the driver's seat ahead of the tea break.
The off-spinner would return after the break to claim the wickets of Ben Foakes and James Anderson to put England out of their misery. The off-spinner's performance saw Mohammed Siraj even bowing down to him as India left the field.
