Russia prepares for Ukrainian counter-attack in 'new phase' of war

The war in Ukraine is entering a new phase as Russian troops mass in the south in preparation for a Ukrainian counter-offensive, western analysts believe.

UKRAINE, RUSSIA

The new front line emerging near Zaporizhzia has led to renewed concern over the safety of the city's nuclear power plant after Russia and Ukraine accused each other of shelling the site.

Ukraine said Russia was on the defensive in the south and had carried out air strikes as it tried to hold captured territory, some of it seized in the early weeks of the war.

Puja Khedkar Case Prompts Changes in UPSC Application Rules

 The UPSC’s decision to mandate document submission at the application stage for the 2025 Civil Services Prelims Exam follows the controversy surrounding probationary Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Puja Khedkar. Khedkar is accused of forging identity documents, misrepresenting information, and falsifying facts to gain additional attempts in the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2022. According to reports, Khedkar allegedly submitted a fake Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) certificate to claim reservation benefits. This allowed her to exceed the standard limit of nine attempts and appear for the exams a total of 12 times.
