Pakistan police file terrorism charges against Imran Khan

Pakistan's police filed terrorism charges against Imran Khan on Monday, as the former prime minister held mass rallies seeking a return to office.

The charges followed a speech Mr Khan gave in Islamabad on Saturday, in which he vowed to sue police officers and a female judge, and alleged a close aide had been tortured after his arrest, AP reported.

Mr Khan appeared to be free and had not immediately addressed the charge sheet being lodged against him.

Earlier, Mr Khan accused the government of temporarily blocking YouTube to deny live access to his speech at a political rally, Reuters reported.

Mr Khan has been making fiery speeches to gatherings across the South Asian nation as he pushes for new elections after being ousted from power in April through a parliamentary vote.

Morocco firefighters battle infernos as villagers flee

Hundreds of Moroccan firefighters and soldiers battled late Thursday to put out at least four infernos ripping through forests in the north of the kingdom, officials said. The fires, fanned by strong winds in the four areas, have not resulted in any casualties so far, but nearly 500 families were evacuated “as a precaution” in the provinces of Larache and Taza, according to official statements. Several villages that were evacuated also saw military planes dropping loads of water to extinguish fires tearing across the dry terrain, an AFP journalist said. Out of 1.81 lakh candidates who appeared for the exam, 1,843 aspirants have been shortlisted to appear for the Main examination. TNPSC declares Group 1 Prelims Results 2025; 1,843 candidates shortlisted. The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has announced the Group 1 Preliminary Examination Results 2025 on Thursday, August 28. Out of 1.81 lakh candidates who appeared for the exam, 1,843 aspirants have been shortlisted to appear for the Main examination.
